Mustangs wins Pawnee Heights title


ROZEL — The Macksville Mustangs swept five consecutive matches to capture the Pawnee Heights/Burdett volleyball championship. The Mustangs (11-5) downed Chase 25-14, 25-12; Kinsley 25-14, 25-18; Natoma 25-10, 25-8; Western Plains 25-10, 25-16; and Pawnee Heights 25-7, 25-22 to finish unbeaten.

Maycee Russell led the way with 67 serves, 64 winners, 64 digs, 57 serves received and 45 assists.

Macksville’s other stats—Kambry Adams (69 serves received, 39 digs, 21 winners); Roxanne Carrillo (101 serves received, 61 serves, 45 digs); Tylee Palser (98 serves, 67 assists); Logan Sanders (62 serves, 27 winners); Yoselin Ibarra (73 serves); Emma Hottovy (10 blocks).

The Mustangs play Ellinwood and St. John Tuesday.

Kinsley finished with a 4-2 record and Pawnee Heights was 3-3.
