HAYS -- Great Bend's Alex Alonzo converted a penalty kick in the Panthers' 8-1 setback to Hays High in Tuesday's Western Athletic Conference soccer showdown.

Hays (4-2, 2-1 WAC) sweeps Great Bend (1-5, 0-3 WAC) after winning 3-1 last week in Great Bend. The Panthers play Dodge City Thursday at Cavanaugh Field.

Hays High's Ivan Maldonado scored a trio of goals to spark the Indians. Ethan Branaman and Kal Lonsdale each converted a pair of goals. Brecken Otte added one goal.
