Great Bend's boys soccer team saved its best effort for Senior Night.

The Panthers snapped a 12-match winless streak with a shocking 1-0 victory over McPherson Thursday.

Alex Alonzo delivered a second-half goal. Panther goalie Eli Contreras teamed with the Panther defense for his second shutout.

Great Bend (2-13-1) won its previous game 7-0 over Salina Central Sept. 13. The Panthers will be excluded from competing in postseason because KSHSAA schools voted to exclude the 16th and 17th seeded teams.
