RILEY — Great Bend pushed 4A state-ranked Clay Center in a pair of classic matches at Saturday's Riley County volleyball tournament. Clay Center outlasted the Panthers 25-21, 28-26 in the first meeting. Clay Center (14-1) downed the Panthers in a tight 28-26, 27-25 championship showdown.
In the first Clay Center match, Kya Behr delivered 23 assists, 12 serves, 4 blocks; Ava Kaiser 26 serves received, 11 digs; Mikala Minton 9 winners; Alex Mayers 10 digs.
In the championship match, Behr provided 16 assists, 11 serves; Kaiser 17 serves received, 11 digs; Minton 7 winners; Micah Ellegood 4 blocks.
Great Bend (6-3) plays Hays High and Manhattan Tuesday.
