The Great Bend girls swim team relied on a tight-knit roster and efficient performances at Tuesday's home meet.
The Panthers placed third with 286 points featuring eight athletes compared to squads of 18 or more.
"Our focus was being as efficient as possible with our entries with eight girls in the water tonight," said Panther swimming coach Lauren Jordan. "It required everyone to step up, often in back-to-back events. I was pleased with how they managed their energy and stayed competitive. We'll continue to work on sharpening our performances as we get further into the heart of our schedule."
The Panthers competed against Buhler, Hutchinson, Dodge City, Liberal, and Holcomb.
Jordan said the Panthers focused on high individual finishes while maximizing their relay potential.
The Panthers' conditioning was on display as their core group of swimmers handled a heavy event load.
