Panthers' Stroup commits to Missouri Western

Great Bend's Tavon Stroup

Great Bend's multi-event state track and cross country qualifier Tavon Stroup has committed to run cross country and track at Missouri Western University at St. Joe, Mo..

"I am beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity to continue doing what I love," Stroup posted online. "I thank my coaches, friends, family and God for putting me in a position to succeed."

Three-time state qualifier Stroup  placed 22nd with a 5A state-best time (16:29.88) at Lawrence's Rim Rock Farms. Stroup also placed 26th and 50th at 5A state.

Stroup's regional finishes were fifth, ninth, 14th and 19th. His Western Athletic finishes were sixth, ninth and 18th.
