HOISINGTON — The Hoisington/Central Plains softball team led Pratt 9-7, one out away from a split of Friday's doubleheader.

But the Greenbacks scored four seventh-inning runs, keyed by a 2-out error that cost the Cardinals in a 10-9 heartbreaking setback.

PRATT 10, CARDINALS 9 (G2) — Cardinal pitcher Ellie Crawford (3-2) was about to survive a hard-fought victory against a hard-hitting Pratt lineup.

But Pratt's Dallie Winklepleck and Renee Hamm scored on a 2-out error for a 9-9 tie. Mica Stapleton scored on Anaston Teasley's game-winning single.

LARNED — The Hoisington/Central Plains softball team remained unbeaten with a 12-2 and 4-0 Central Kansas League sweep over the Larned Indians Tuesday.

The Cardinals (8-0, 4-0 CKL) have scored 109 runs in eight games. Pitchers Ellie Crawford (3-0) and Brynn Tarlton (4-0) stayed unbeaten. The Cardinals play Pratt Friday. Larned (4-3, 0-2 CKL) plays Hesston Friday.

CARDINALS 12, LARNED 2 (G1) — Hoisington's Marly Brewer, Ellie Crawford, Gabby Reif, Brynn Tarlton and Mackenzie Foulger each drove home two runs. Reif and Tarlton each delivered three hits.

Reif singled home Brewer and Foulger singled in Crawford in the first. Brewer's 2-run single drove in Mea Sneath and Claire Crutcher, Crawford's 2-run single drove home Kylie Kempke and Brewer and Tarlton's 2-run double drove in Crawford and Reif in a 7-run second inning.

Reif's single scored Brewer in a 3-run third inning. Tarlton scored on Foulger's single and Reif scored on a wild pitch.

Larned's Jadyn Crosby singled in Brooke Simmons and Karley Lemuz scored on Crosby's groundout.

CARDINALS 4, LARNED 0 (G2) — Hoisington's Crawford and Tarlton combined for a 3-hit shutout.

Crawford doubled home Brewer in the third inning. In a 3-run fifth inning, Sneath scored on Kempke's single, Kempke scored on Crawford's double and Crawford scored on Reif's single.

Larned's Maya Wilson, Teagan Walker and Gillian Smith singled.

Stapleton's 2-run double and Teasley's RBI single tied it 4-4. Cardinal Gabby Reif homered but Stapleton's sacrifice fly tied it 5-5.

Brewer's RBI single scored Mea Sneath to start a 4-run Cardinal fourth inning. Claire Crutcher scored on Crawford's fly ball. Brewer scored on Tartlon's single. Reif scored on Mackenzie Foulger's single for a 9-5 lead.

PRATT 10, CARDINALS 4 (G1) — Previously winless Pratt (2-6, 2-4 CKL) scored seven first-inning runs to control the opener from start-to-finish. Pratt doubled and singled six times in the first inning. Savannah Copus and Stapleton homered for a 9-0 lead.

Kylie Kempke led the Cardinals (8-2, 4-2 CKL) with three hits and a pair of RBI. Kempke singled in M Strong in the second inning. Crutcher scored on Kempke's double and Kempke scored on Brewer's double in a 2-run fourth inning. Crutcher scored on Crawford's sixth-inning single.
