Kinsley baseball wins twin bill
KINSLEY — Kinsley/Macksville pitcher Kendall Grippin kept rolling with no earned runs to spark the Coyotes past Pratt Skyline 11-1 and 12-1 for a pair of run-rule victories Thursday. The Coyotes play at Ellis April 17.
Grippin struck out 10 batters in five innings in a 12-1 victory. Grippin (3-0) has struck out 26 batters in 13 innings with a 0.538 earned run average.
KINSLEY 12, SKYLINE 1 (G2) — Woodrow Lancaster led the Coyotes with four runs batted home with a trio of hits. Diego Esparza drove in two runs.
Lancaster singled home Esparza in a 2-run first inning. Kaleb Granger and Esparza scored on Lancaster's double in a 3-run second inning. Anthony Meza scored on Granger's third inning groundout.
Joey Preito and Granger scored on Esparza's double in a 4-run fifth inning. Esparza scored on an error and Joshua Stuckey scored on Lancaster's single in a 2-run seventh inning.
Kinsley took advantage of 12 walks, two hit batters and two Skyline errors.
KINSLEY 11, SKYLINE 1 (G1) — Kinsley pitcher Stuckey (2-0) struck out four batters in four shutout innings.
Trenton Anderson led the offense with four runs batted home. Lancaster drove in two runs for a 6-RBI day. Lancaster and Anderson drove in runs in a 2-run first inning.
Stuckey and Lancaster scored on Andersoan's fourth inning single. Lancaster scored on Anderson's fifth-inning single.
