MEADE 60, ST. JOHN 39 — St. John Tiger Quade Smith ended his high school basketball career strong with an 11-point night in a 60-39 substate basketball setback to Meade. Smith played with a bandaged right wrist after returning from a late-season injury.

St. John (12-9) was paced by Braxton Alpers with 12 points. Alpers also missed valuable playing time with an ankle injury. South Central beat Meade 47-46 in the 1A semifinals.
