SOUTH GRAY GIRLS 49, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 39 — A brilliant 20-point, 19-rebound effort by Pawnee Heights Tiger Abby Hands pushed South Gray in a hard-fought 49-39 in Friday's Southern Plains Iroquois basketball game. It marked the closest loss by the Tigers against perennial 1A powerhouse South Gray.
Pawnee Heights first-year basketball coach Thomas Brooks enjoyed a dazzling debut.
The Tigers played brilliant team basketball with 14 assists on 16 baskets. Lili Cissell dished out five assists and had three steals.
The Tigers outscored the Rebels 30-29 after the first quarter.

SOUTH GRAY 79, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 41 — Perennial 1A powerhouse South Gray outscored Pawnee Heights 43-13 after halftime to wear down the Tigers 79-41 in Friday's Southern Plains Iroquois basketball showdown. The Tigers trailed 36-28 at halftime.
The Tigers placed Cody Holste (12), Logan Ebabnit (12) and Owen Giffin (10) in double figures. It was a solid debut for first-year Tiger basketball coach John Giffin.
South Gray's Gavin Wahl scored 29 points with four 3-pointers and Asa Briscoe added 23 points. The Rebels outscored the Tigers 24-18 from 3-point range.
