Weeds don’t wait, and neither should your management strategy. Join K-State specialists, industry representatives and western Kansas agriculture producers for a practical field day focused on weed management in pastures and rangelands and row crop systems on Thursday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the K-State Agricultural Research Center in Hays, 1232 240th Avenue.
The field day will bring together K-State researchers, industry representatives, and western Kansas producers to explore practical weed management strategies for pasture, rangeland, and row crop systems. As producers face increasing herbicide resistance, tighter margins, and growing interest in precision technologies, the event will highlight practical tools and research relevant to weed management decisions in western Kansas production systems.
Topics will include:
- Weed management in pastures and rangelands
- Herbicide programs for weed control in fallow, sorghum and corn
- AI and weed recognition for targeted herbicide applications
- Drone technology for weed management
- See & Spray technology
- Autonomous robots for weed control
- Occasional tillage for weed management
Presentations will be led by K-State College of Agriculture researchers and extension specialists, including Jeremie Kouame, Keith Harmoney, Augustine Obour, Sarah Lancaster, and Patrick Geier. Industry representatives also will share emerging tools and technologies shaping weed management.
Local producer Adam Brull will provide a producer perspective on adopting and evaluating weed management strategies and technologies under real-world conditions. Lunch will be provided following the program. The event is free to attend. Walk-ins are welcome, though advance registration is encouraged to help organizers plan meals and materials.
