There were 66 new COVID-19 cases in Barton County for the week of July 23-29, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported Wednesday.
Most of the state, including all counties near Barton County with the exception of Ness County, had a “high” new case rate for the week, meaning 100 or more cases per 100,000 people. The rate for Ness County was “substantial,” defined as 50-99 cases per 100,000.
The most recent five days were not included as the data is expected to be incomplete.
As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, there were 6,722 new cases reported statewide from the previous Wednesday, July 27. The statewide death total attributed to COVID-19 was adjusted downward by one, to 8,970.
