Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Wow, we have a busy week ahead, so let’s just get straight to it. Today, after Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., crafters 18 and up can join us for our Adult Craft at 6 p.m. This month, create a minimalist textured art piece for your home with canvas and spackle. Spots are first-come, first-served, as supplies are limited.

Friday from 3:45-7:15 p.m., we have Causal Game Friday for teens in grades 6-12. Get ready to dash around as you attempt to serve fine dining on the fly in the hilariously chaotic kitchen game, Overcooked! 2.

Next week, starting with Monday, we have a few classes available. At 10 a.m., join us at the Senior Center for another Digital Literacy Class. This time, we will be covering Online Shopping and Banking. Learn how to set up accounts and security measures. Plus, tips on keeping track of spending.

Tuesday is another full day, starting off with story time at 10:30 a.m. Shortly after that starts, bring your tech questions to the Reference Desk for Tech Tuesday, starting at 11 a.m. Later, at 5:30 p.m., we have our next check-in for our Novelvember Support Group. Last but not least, join us at 7 p.m. for Open Book Club. This month, we are discussing “VenCo” by Cherie Dimaline. “Lucky St. James, a Métis millennial living with her cantankerous but loving grandmother Stella, is barely hanging on when she discovers she will be evicted from their tiny Toronto apartment. Then, one night, something strange and irresistible calls out to Lucky. Burrowing through a wall, she finds a silver spoon etched with a crooked-nosed witch and the word SALEM humming with otherworldly energy. Hundreds of miles away in the town of Salem, Myrna Good has been looking for Lucky. Myrna works for VenCo, a front company fueled by vast resources of dark money.” Want to join in the discussion? Grab your copy today at the front desk!

Wednesday at 5 p.m., we have another Digital Literacy Class. This time, we are covering Teen Online Safety. If you or a teen you know could use a brush-up on how to stay safe online, this is the class for you.

Next Thursday, after Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., teens grades 6-12 can join us in the TeenSpot for this month’s Teen Manga & Anime Club. For November, we are covering “Fullmetal Alchemist” and will be using Perler beads to make chibi art from the series.

Finally, library patrons of all ages are invited to come to the library to play Grocery Store Bingo on Saturday, Nov. 22, starting at 10:30 a.m! This event will operate similarly to the grocery bingo events we’ve hosted in the past. Every participant will have one card for free, and we will make sure everyone goes home with something. Adults are welcome to bring their kiddos so the whole family can take something home, and kids 10 and up can come play by themselves if they would like. We will have everything from full meals to snacks on the table, so come win something tasty!

If you are interested in helping us provide as much food as possible for this program, you can donate non-perishable food items that can be prepared by most ages, or you make a monetary donation to help us go shopping!
