Teens ramen noodle cook-off is Thursday

Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Our summer program is in full swing. Thursday, June 13, we have events for teens and adults in the afternoon and evening. At 3:30 p.m. it’s Teen Manga & Anime Club time. This time we will be watching and discussing “Delicious in Dungeon” before our ramen noodle cook-off. Teens will pair ingredients with cooked ramen noodles before combining them into a (hopefully) delicious dish. The best ramen dish will win a special prize. Then that evening it’s Adult Craft Night at 6 p.m! Try out cyanotype to create botanical sun prints using light-sensitive paper.

Friday at 2 p.m. we have a special new program, Interactive Movie Adventures! “You VS Jungles” is the first of three interactive movie programs this summer. In addition to this one, you can look forward to “You VS Mountains” and “You VS Deserts.” For each interactive survival adventure, you will join Bear Grylls and travel through harsh and unforgiving locations. During your adventures it will be up to you, the audience, to decide what to do and how to make it out of each perilous situation. Also happening Friday we have a new teen pop-up program, Let’s Try Hwachae (Korean Watermelon Punch). The program starts at 3:30 p.m. and will give the teens the chance to try a fun new drink currently taking the world by storm on social media. Join us Friday to make it together and have a small tasting party!

Saturday is our Tabletop Teens D&D One-Shot Adventure. While registration is now full, you can always join in as a spectator. Watch all the thrills, kills, and drama from up close and enjoy the story as it unfolds with the players. The dice will start to roll at 12:30 p.m.

Next Monday we will start offering our DIY BBQ Dry Rub to patrons. Stop by through Saturday and make your own delicious combination of herbs and spices provided by the library just in time for Father’s Day! The last time we offered this, it was extremely popular, so be sure to come get yours early before it’s gone. Containers for spices will be provided. Due to limited supply we are asking patrons to stick to one jar of spice rub per person.

On Tuesday we are back with Campfire Story Time and Fireside Tween Scene at 10:30 a.m., followed by Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m. for all your personal technology needs. Wonderful Wednesdays continue with the Sternberg Museum at 10:30 a.m. Learn about the real-life people who inspired larger than life adventurers, such as Indiana Jones.

Thursday we have Nintendo Trivia at Dry Lake. How well do you know everyone’s favorite red plumber? Do you know the meaning behind the three pieces of the Triforce? Grab a team or go it solo while you compete for fabulous prizes. Sign up at greatbendpl.info to add your team to the roster (limit of 4 per team).
