Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! March 1 is the first day of Meteorological Spring. Stop by today to grab a copy of our new Spring 2025 newsletter, packed with events from March through May. From Monday Crafternoons to Grocery Store Bingo to Teen Manga & Anime Club, we have programs planned for all patrons to enjoy this spring.

We also have plenty of upcoming events this week, starting today with our usual Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m. and Read to Luna at 3:30 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 28, kicks off the start of our spring Tabletop Teens mini campaign, featuring a mystery that our intrepid adventurers will have to use their wits and wiles to solve. Registration to play has ended, but any teens interested in learning more about the game are welcome to join us from 3:45-7 p.m. as members of the audience.

Dr. Seuss’ birthday is March 2, and to celebrate, our Children’s Department will have a special scavenger hunt available all week long starting Monday, March 3. This same day also marks the deadline for registering for our special Woodworking edition of Monday Crafternoons on March 24. Come to the library in person to save your kiddo’s spot.

Teens can join us next Monday at 4 p.m. for our first Musical Movie Monday, where we’ll enjoy popcorn and sing along with the antics of Cady, the star of this month’s movie, as she faces off against her new high school’s elite group of girls known as “The Plastics.”

Next Tuesday we have our regular lineup of Baby Bounce at 9:30 a.m. and Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m., followed by Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Tweens in grades 3-5 can try out a mini version of our Manga & Anime Club. Before March 5, check out a copy of Cardcaptor Sakura Vol. 1 by CLAMP and read it in time for next Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., when we’ll watch the first episode of the anime, talk about the show and the book, and make some cherry blossom paintings.

Along with our standard Thursday events, March 6 is the first Thursday of the month, which means it’s time for another round of Delicious Dishes. Join us at 6 p.m. to explore egg substitutions in baking with our resident culinary expert, Miss Lisa.
