Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! We have two special events coming up this month that I wanted to highlight today. We’ve recently introduced our new Bingo program, and on Monday, Nov. 10, we’re going to shake things up this time with a Grocery Store Bingo at 10 a.m. This upcoming event is just for adults playing for the chance to win groceries galore. The first bingo card is free, but if you like the thrill of running multiple cards at a time, you can make a donation for up to four more. Your generous donations will help fund this event and future rounds of bingo, like the one we will have later this month.

Grocery Store Bingo on Nov. 22 at 10:30 a.m. will be open to all ages, operating similarly to the grocery bingo events we’ve hosted in the past. Every participant will have one card for free, and we will make sure everyone goes home with something. Adults are welcome to bring their kiddos so the whole family can take something home, and kids 10 and up can come play by themselves if they would like. We will have everything from full meals to snacks on the table, so come win something tasty!

If you are interested in helping us provide as much food as possible during these programs, you can donate non-perishable food items that can be prepared by most ages, or you make a monetary donation to help us go shopping!

As for other upcoming events, movie enthusiasts ages 18 and up can come to our Adults’ Night Out Movie at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening. “Follow Elphaba, a young woman with green skin, as she navigates life at Shiz University and forms an unlikely friendship with the popular Glinda. Their bond deepens as they encounter the Wizard of Oz, leading to a series of events that ultimately shape their destinies and transform them into the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.” Popcorn and seating are available starting at 6:45 p.m. (the north doors will be open to allow entrance until 7:15 p.m.).

Find your local writing community at the Great Bend Public Library! Writers grades 3 and older from the Barton County area are welcome to join us for our monthly meetings to share and work on their craft. This fall, we’re focusing on Novelvember, an annual writing project that takes place during the month of November. The end goal is to write a 50,000 word first draft manuscript in 30 days! Need a change of scenery? Come to the library during our November meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 5:30-7 p.m. to work on your Novelvember draft! This is also a great opportunity for troubleshooting and feedback on your project from members of the club

Next Thursday, Nov. 13, crafters 18 and up can join us for our Adult Craft at 6 p.m. This month, create a minimalist textured art piece for your home with canvas and spackle! Spots are first come, first served, as supplies are limited.
