The members of Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi began this sorority year updating the Chapter Constitution, Bylaws and Traditions.
On Sept. 11, members and spouses enjoyed a trip to Brookville for lunch and then on to Abilene for ride on the historic excursion train, the Flint Hills Express.
Under the guidance of Service Chair Karen Reif, members met several times during the summer for lunch and a craft day to create Christmas cards for residents of the local nursing homes. They will complete the project this fall for delivery at the beginning of December.
During the two September meetings and plans for a Pizza Hut fundraiser on Oct. 21 were discussed. Members will have various items for a raffle.
For the programs this month, Jeri Brozek explained the history of Daylight Saving Time. It was first tried in Europe during World War I. The U.S. has had several periods of DST, most of which were random and confusing. Daylight Saving Time, as we now know it, was standardized in 2007; however, the debate over DST continues.
Members also shared stories of their summer vacations.
