Arson investigation leads to two drug arrests

Two people were arrested on narcotics charges Monday after a traffic stop led to a search of a Great Bend residence.

According to a Great Bend Police Department release, GBPD detectives were conducting surveillance in the 1500 block of 11th Street in Great Bend regarding an ongoing arson investigation. While conducting surveillance, detectives conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 maroon Honda passenger car near the intersection of 11th and Kansas and made contact with the driver, 54-year-old Sean Flagg. Flagg was arrested on charges of probation violation, driving while suspended, no proof of insurance, illegal license plates, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp. He was transported to the Barton County Detention Center and booked in lieu of bond.

During the course of this investigation, GBPD detectives and officers obtained and executed a search warrant later Monday at 1102 Hubbard St. in Great Bend. During the execution and thorough search of the residence, items of Illegal drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and marijuana were located and seized as evidence. Candace J. Jones, 51, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and no drug tax stamp. She was transported to the Barton County Detention Center and booked in lieu of bond.
