A Russell County man was taken to Hays Medical Center with what were believed to be minor injuries on Tuesday after the 2017 Toyota Highlander he was driving went off an Ellis County road and crashed into a pole. Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 7:37 a.m. on U.S. 183, one mile north of Interstate 70. The northbound vehicle driven by Paul Gross, 73, of Gorham, went off the road to the right and hit the embankment. It struck the power pole approximately 9 feet in the air and came to rest on its side.
Gross was wearing a seat belt. The Highlander sustained heavy front-end damage and was removed to a tow lot by Dreiling Field Service.
