Charles (Chuck) W. Gibbs, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025. He was born to Frank and Elsie Gibbs in Great Bend, Kan. on July 14, 1941.
He graduated from Great Bend High School and enlisted in the United States Navy the summer of 1960. After his discharge, he returned to run Gibbs Electric Contractors, which he owned and operated from 1967 until 1980. He served on the Great Bend Board of Electrical Examinations and Appeals for nine years and belonged to several clubs and organizations. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed bowhunting. He was cofounder of the Kansas Bowhunters Association.
He left Great Bend and moved to Colorado where he spent his time as a hunting guide, commercial pilot, airport manager, and taxidermist. During this time, he returned to school to complete his education, obtaining an electrical engineering degree and a master’s in business administration.
In 1997, he moved back to Kansas and worked in McPherson for Industrial Electric Company and Welco Services. After retiring he provided electrical consulting services to McPherson College.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; first wife, Kathy; and infant son, Brian. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Robin Gibbs; two daughters Angela (Rick) Brandenstein, Allison (Bill) Wishowski; one stepdaughter, Summer Barrow; five grandchildren, Emily, Adam, Sara, Michael, and Lindsay.
His wishes were that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
