Francis Raymond Simmons, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at Azria Health Woodhaven in Great Bend, Kan., with his daughter by his side.
Born on Sept. 25, 1938, in Lenora, Kan., he was the son of Albert and Marie (Cox) Simmons.
Francis proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 before continuing his service with the Army National Guard, where he served in Phillipsburg from 1963 to 1965. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years of work to the City of Phillipsburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Marie; and siblings, Lucille, Margaret, Charles, Allen, and Eleanor. Survivors include his daughter Mary and her husband Frank Feemster of Ellinwood, Kan.;, three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and brother Bob Simmons of Goodland, Kan.
Cremation was planned. A Graveside Service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, in the Marvin Cemetery in Glade, Kan. with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
