Loren Joseph Kutina, D.D.S., 85 died January 10th, 2021 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, KS. He was born July 14th, 1935 in Great Bend, KS, to George F. and Florence (Weber) Kutina. Loren married Arlene J. (Johanning) June 1st, 1957 in Ellinwood, KS. She survives.
A lifetime resident of Great Bend, Dr. Kutina graduated from Great Bend High School in 1953, Fort Hays State University in 1957 and received his Doctorates of Dental Surgery degree from University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1961. His career started with his father, George F. Kutina D.D.S., proud to continue on his father’s legacy that has now spanned over four generations. After providing dental care for 40 years, he retired from dentistry in 2002.
Loren was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, American Dental Association and Kansas Dental Association. He enjoyed several hobbies but had a true passion for hunting, fly fishing and photography.
Survivors include his wife Arlene J. Kutina of the home, three children, daughter Julie Cothran and husband Mark of Greenville, SC, son Larry Kutina, D.D.S and wife Anne of Great Bend; daughter Jan Ensley and husband Greg of Great Bend; grandchildren William Cothran and wife Amanda; Andrew Kutina, D.D.S. and fiancé Kara Katzenberg; Eric Cothran, Kade Ensley, Elizabeth Kutina, Erin Ensley and fiance’ Brent Chisholm, and one great granddaughter Ziggy Mae Cothran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, John Joseph and three sisters, Carol Haselhorst, Mary Brazda and infant sister Christina Rose.
Cremation has taken place and a private family mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
Friends may sign the register book at Bryant Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm Wednesday through Friday.
