Robert ‘Bob’ Alexander Rein, Sr., 84, passed away Aug. 9, 2026, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kan. He was born May 26, 1942, in Ransom, to Alexander and Betty (Gaschler) Rein. Bob married Rose M. Uncapher Sept. 21, 1962, in McCracken. She passed away April 26, 2022.
Bob was owner of Kirby Company of Great Bend for 40 years. He spent a few years selling cars for Riverside, where he enjoyed meeting and helping people. He transitioned to Harper Camperland as a salesman until his retirement. He served as past president of the Eagle’s. He enjoyed gardening, taking pride in nurturing his plants and enjoying the fruits of his labor. He also loved spending time playing pool and golf, enjoying the friendly competition and time spent with others. He could often be found relaxing while listening to country music or watching his favorite westerns.
Survivors include his sons, Randy Rein and his wife Haley of Great Bend, Robby Rein of Great Bend, Russell Rein and his wife Sherry of Olathe; adopted son, Nathan Dixon; sister, Claudine Gaudet and her husband Phil of S.C.; brother, Ronald Rein and his wife Janice of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Rose M. Rein; sister, Carol Rixon; and brothers-in-law, Don Uncapher, Danny Uncapher, and John Rixon.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeffrey Owen presiding. Inurnment will follow at McCracken Cemetery.
