Teresa Marie Farmer, 71, passed away May 14, 2025, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kan. She was born on Aug. 27, 1953, in Scott City, Kan., to Francis and Mary (Dinkle) Farmer.
Teresa was a longtime Great Bend resident. She received a specialist degree in psychology from Fort Hays State University. Teresa worked as a counselor at Barton Community College, then worked as a psychologist for Y Cal in Larned, being a state and nationally certified counselor for licensing in Kansas. She also was an associated for the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Teresa was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima, Altar Society, and Breast Friends – a group for breast cancer survivors. She had a lifelong love and talent for music. Teresa enjoyed playing her guitar and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her sister, Doris Farmer of Wichita; nephew, Dodge Wendler and wife Sara of Shawnee; great niece, Piper Wendler of Shawnee; best friend, Mary Massey of Great Bend; and beloved cocker spaniel, Annie. She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Phyllis Wendler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, Kan., with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Scott City Cemetery, Scott City, Kan., with Father Donald Bedore presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2025, with Altar Society Rosary at 4 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Dominican Sisters of Peace or Breast Friends, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
