ELLSWORTH — Ellinwood's Bennett Jacobs (.625) delivered a 2-run single to key a 5-run seventh inning for a 12-7 opening softball victory over Ellsworth Monday.

Ellinwood (3-5) dropped the nightcap 13-0 to Ellsworth (7-5). Russell visits Ellinwood Thursday for a doubleheader.

ELLINWOOD 12, ELLSWORTH 7 (G1) — Pitcher Jacobs (3-4) struck out four batters to earn the victory.

In the 5-run seventh inning, Jenna Borror doubled home Madison Kirkpatrick. Jacobs scored on a Shyria Quintana fly ball. Borror scored on an error for a 12-4 lead.

Eagles Borror (.429), Quintana (.429), Anna Hahn (.333) and Jenaveve Franco (.273) each drove in two runs.

Ellsworth's Kelli Rodriguez drove home two runs.

ELLSWORTH 13, ELLINWOOD 0 (G2) — Ellsworth's Lexi Moore (.674) homered, tripled and drove home five runs to spark the Bearcats. Raegan Williams doubled and drove home three runs.

Pitcher Brekyn Zier (2-1, 4.12 ERA) threw a 2-hit shutout and struck out six batters. Hahn and Jaci Sandberg delivered Ellinwood's singles.
