ELLINWOOD — Pratt Skyline’s tandem of Kady Anschutz and Kory Anschutz powered the Thunderbirds to a doubleheader sweep over Ellinwood 9-4 and 13-3 in Thursday’s non-league games. Ellinwood (1-3) travels to defending 3A state champion Cheney Tuesday. 

SKYLINE 9, EAGLES 4 (G1) — Kady Anschutz (1-1) struck out 16 batters to overpower the Eagles’ batters. Ellinwood’s Lauren Kmop singled home Nevaeh Bowman. Bowman scored two runs. Jauzalynn Blaton scored on a passed ball. Caylee Rowan scored an Ellinwood run.

Ellinwood started the first and third innings with two defensive errors as the Thunderbirds scored seven unearned runs off pitcher Brooklin Morgan. Skyline’s Kady Anschutz, Kaitlyn Riggs and Bryna Tucker drove in two runs. Corbin Armstrong, Kaitlyn Hanson drove in runs. Kadie Bailey singled for the Eagles’ second single.   

SKYLINE 13, EAGLES 3 (G2) — Skyline’s Kady Anschutz and Kory Anschutz each drove home three runs with a trio of base hits to power the Thunderbirds in game 2. Tucker, Ashley Spease and Madisyn Jones each drove in a run. 

Ellinwood’s Knop stayed hot with two hits and an RBI single that scored Bowman. Brooklin Morgan singled and scored two runs, one on an error.
