LARNED — Great Bend's Junior Legion baseball team enjoyed the friendly confines of Moffett Stadium by sweeping Larned's Legion team 8-1 and 17-0 Thursday.

Red-hot Daxton Minton batted 5-for-6 to record 10 hits in 12 appearances, a 833 batting average in the past four baseball games for the Braves (6-2). Larned drops to 0-2.

BRAVES 8, LARNED 1 (G1) — Minton maintained momentum with two runs scored, two singles and a double to bat 8-for-10 with nine RBIs over three games.

Great Bend starter Carson Poe (1-1) struck out 10 batters and reliever Jaxon Wondra struck out all six batters to combine 16 strikeouts out of 18 Larned outs.

Trenton Kern singled in Minton and Kale Kern scored on a first-inning error for a 2-0 lead. Aiden Hekele singled in Eli Soupiset in the fourth inning.

In a 5-run sixth inning, Soupiset scored on a passed ball and Colin Saffa scored on a wild pitch. Soupiset singled in a run and Minton and Kale Kern ripped back-to-back RBI doubles for an 8-1 lead.

Larned's Shane Sundahl walked and scored on a wild pitch for the Indians' fifth-inning run.

BRAVES 17, LARNED 0 (G2) — Braves pitcher Peyden Oelger (1-0) threw a 2-hit shutout with five strikeouts. Larned's Tristan Regan and Ty Smith singled.

Jaxon Wondra scored three runs and drove home five runs with two hits. Minton scored two runs and stayed on fire with two hits to record 10 hits in 12 appearances, a 833 batting average.

Oelger and Hekele each drove in two runs. Soupiset, Eli Contreras and Collin Saffa each drove in a run. Oelger scored three runs.
