ANDOVER — Great Bend's fourth-place singles finisher Paige Stacey (19-14) and fifth-place finisher MacKenzie Lindberg (25-10) qualified for the 5A state tennis championship at Saturday's Andover regional.

Goddard's Charlotte Norton downed Stacey 6-2, 6-0 for third place after Andover's regional champion Mia Jaramillo defeated Stacey 6-0, 6-0. Lindberg downed Hutchinson's Layni Hagley 6-3, 6-0 for fifth place after beating Salina South's Leany Maldando 6-1, 6-2 to qualify for the state tournament.

Great Bend tennis coach Zachary Bartel was estactic qualifying two players for the 5A state tournament.

"Paige and Mac played really well," Bartel said. "They had a good mentality and executed their game plans. It's fantastic to get both singles players to state. They are both great kids and so deserving."

Bartel liked Lindberg's regional draw. 

"After the seeds were determined I knew we had a good shot at getting both singles players through to stat," Bartel said. "I felt like Mac was underseeded by two spots due to one loss at a rain-delayed McPherson tournament. Both girls qualified for state by beating the same player from Salina South."
