DODGE CITY — Great Bend's tennis team showed steady progress with a fourth-place finish by doubles partners Kai Britt/Jacob Parks and a ninth-place singles medal by Aaron Ramirez at Thursday's Dodge City Tennis Invitational.
Britt/Parks lost to the eventual champions and lost 8-1 to Liberal's Parker Brown. Miguel O'Valle. Ramirez rallied for two wins with a 8-3 victory over Cimarron's Pando for ninth place.
"Our No. 1 doubles team showed some of their potential," said Great Bend coach Chris Manning. "They finished fourth, but played very well against good teams.
Aaron Ramirez fought back after a hard first-round loss and won the consolation bracket to bring home a medal."
The Panthers (36) placed fifth. Dodge City Red (68) won the team title.
