HAYSVILLE — No. 9 ranked 5A Great Bend (20-2) kept rolling with wins over Goddard Eisenhower, 25-22, 25-20 and Campus in a tight 3-set match, 25-16, 22-25, 25-16. Campus downed Goddard Eisenhower, 25-16, 25-20. Great Bend plays Emporia and Hillsboro Thursday at home starting at 5 p.m.
Panther sophomore All-Western Athletic Conference setter Kya Behr continues to thrive, passing the 1,000-assist barrier halfway through her sophomore season. Behr had 589 assists last year. Tarynn (Kirmer) Stueder owns the school record with 2,449 career assists.
"She knows where the ball is going," said Great Bend coach Shelly Duvall. "She focuses on her hands."
Behr led the way with 13 assists, six winners and three digs against Eisenhower. Cassie Ellegood contributed six winners. Kara Feist and Alex Mayers each had five winners. Cassie Ellegood contributed six aces with 13 serves. Mayers provided five digs. Ava Kaiser had 13 serves received and Mayers had 10 serves received.
Against Campus, Behr delivered 25 assists and 10 winners. Meyers had 10 serves received and seven winners. Kaiser had 17 serves and 16 serves received. Minton delivered 16 digs and 10 serves received. Kimmie Hofflinger had 13 serves and Cassie Ellegood provided eight winners.
