PRATT 24, HOISINGTON 3

PRATT – Once Hoisington’s all-state safety Jason Robinson was sidelined with an ankle injury on the first play from scrimmage, it was destined to be Pratt’s night. Robinson intercepted Cresten Pore’s first pass, but was injured after getting tackled.

“You pray for the best because he deserves more than that,” said Hoisington coach Zach Baird. “It’s a tough break.”

Cardinal kicker Taylen Morales converted a 32-yard field goal, but Pratt’s offensive line dominated for a 24-3 Central Kansas League victory.

Pratt’s Taye Wilson rushed for 195 yards and a score. Pratt rushed for 288 yards. Pore completed a 5-yard scoring strike to Arley Morrell and a 7-yard scoring pass to Caleb Strong.

“They outplayed us and outcoached us,” Baird said. “I’ve got to do a better job. You’ve got to break even up front when they push bodies into the point of attack.”

Morales delivered a fourth-down defensive stop on Wilson and the Cardinals turned back Pratt twice in goal-line situations. But Pore completed a 7-yard throwback pass to Strong to spark three consecutive touchdowns and 2-pointers.

The Cardinals rushed for 123 yards in 38 carries. Teron Kraft gained 79 hard-earned yards on 15 carries.

“With no push up front, it’s hard to run it,” Baird said. “We had no quarterback run game.”
