JUNCTION CITY — Great Bend's Xali Arias tied a school record with six goals in a dominating 8-0 soccer victory over Junction City Thursday.
Arias shares the single-game record of six goals with Jillian Reimer (2023) and Yesenia Garcia (2007). Arias has 33 goals to break the record the previous record by Garcia (26) in 2007. Arias is on target to pass Garcia's 74 career goals.
Panthers Teegan Guerra and Samantha Escobedo also scored goals against Junction City.
Great Bend's girls (9-7) clinched their first winning record in 22 years since 2004. The Panthers are projected to play Andover Central (11-5) in next week's 5A soccer regional.
