Kelly’s Garden Sense is celebrating 10 years in business, marking a full decade of bringing color, creativity and community to central Kansas landscapes.
Founded on Nov. 15, 2015 by Kelly Meier Moeder, the company began with a single order to design and install five seasonal pots. Today, it has grown into a thriving, full-service greenhouse and landscaping business known for its signature #POPofCOLOR, unique plant varieties and personalized customer service.
In 2024 alone, Kelly’s team designed and installed more than 600 custom seasonal pots, all bursting with color and creativity. What started as a one-woman venture has blossomed into a year-round operation with three greenhouses, a retail space, a patch for growing their own pumpkins and a talented crew of eight full-time and two part-time employees.
Kelly’s Garden Sense sits on five acres that have been in Kelly’s family for generations – a fitting home base for a business where roots truly run deep. Currently, about half of that land is in use for greenhouse space, storage, and seasonal growing grounds. The other half represents a bright future of potential and expansion.
Kelly shared her reflections and hopes for the next decade:
“I started Kelly’s Garden Sense because I saw a need to create something beautiful and unique for the residents of the town I was born and raised in. This land has been in my family for generations, and it’s where my roots – personally and professionally – are planted. I’m so excited for the future of our company, from where we started to where we are today, and I can’t wait to see how much more we can offer in our Greenhouse and to our full-service customers. I take pride in offering a diverse line of plants, the highest quality, and the biggest blooms, many of which are grown right here, built for the Kansas weather we’re accustomed to. And with room to grow, there’s so much more in store for the next 10 years.”
The business is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in the retail Greenhouse, open six days a week, all November long, leading up to its Christmas Open House and the festive “Mistletoe & Martinis” Greenhouse Event on Saturday, Dec. 6. Stop by the Greenhouse between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. or purchase a ticket for the after-hours workshop and event, where guests can enjoy festive bites, cocktails and a hands-on wreath workshop in the warmth of the Greenhouse.
