Like it or not, 2026 has arrived and what a remarkable year 2025 turned out to be. From the first collaborative meetings among nonprofit organizations, to impactful community projects, to a record-breaking Giving Tuesday, 2025 provided both lasting memories and renewed hope for tomorrow. These moments remind us that the act of giving and the pride we take in our communities is a powerful force that keeps our hometowns strong, sustainable, and positioned to thrive for future generations.
As we look ahead, one meaningful way to continue that impact is by considering the Keep 5 in Kansas concept. By remembering your community in your estate plan, you can help ensure its vitality for generations to come.
Studies show that more than $400 billion will be transferred from one generation to the next in Kansas over the next ten years. If just 5% or $2 billion were directed to endowments or similar funds within Kansas community foundations, together we could create a permanent source of funding to support local organizations and charitable purposes across our state.
The impact of giving just 5% could be felt in so many important areas, including: schools, youth programs, healthcare, food banks, childcare, community gardens, arts and humanities, city improvements, and emergency assistance.
With a little thoughtful planning, we can make a lasting difference for our communities, our families, our friends, and our neighbors forever.
The Golden Belt Community Foundation is here to assist you in designing your legacy and helping you fulfill your passions, not just for the future, but for 2026 and beyond. Please stop by and share your ideas and interests with our staff. We would truly love to hear your story.
