Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Now that all the excitement of the holidays is dying down, we are getting back in the swing of programming here at the library. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Today, Jan. 8, after Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., join us for Adult Craft Night at 6 p.m. This month, we are making a mirror craft with the new big thing in the craft world, Decoden cream, a type of fake whipped cream glue. You may have seen people using it to make elaborately decorated phone cases. It looks like frosting, but you can add charms and other bobbles before it hardens, leaving you with a fun and personalized mirror.

Friday at 3:45 p.m., teens in grades 6-12 can join us for Casual Game Friday. Get ready to do a barrel roll as ace pilot Fox McCloud and his team in the critically acclaimed Star Fox 64.

Next Monday, Jan. 12, get those stampin’ hands ready, because we are bringing BINGO back to the Great Bend Public Library! Come inside where it’s warm to have fun and win fabulous prizes.

Next week, bring your smart device-related questions to Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m. That evening at 5:30 p.m., we invite you to join us for our January Writing Club meeting. Take a look back on 2025 and share your favorite pieces of writing from last year.

Next Thursday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m., it’s time for our next Teen Manga & Anime Club. For January’s club meeting, we’re keeping it low-key with popcorn and a movie. “From the legendary Studio Ghibli and Academy Award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away) comes a new critically-acclaimed fantasy adventure. After losing his mother during the war, young Mahito moves to his family’s estate in the countryside. There, a series of mysterious events lead him to a secluded and ancient tower, home to a mischievous gray heron. When Mahito’s new stepmother disappears, he follows the gray heron into the tower and enters a fantastic world shared by the living and the dead. As he embarks on an epic journey with the heron as his guide, Mahito must uncover the secrets of this world, and the truth about himself.” (Rotten Tomatoes) Copies of February’s title, “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!” by Satoru Yamaguchi, will be available for pickup.

Keep the cold weather blues away with our Winter Reading Bingo. Pick up your sheet to complete the cozy objectives in a row of five and hand it in by Jan. 31 to enter into a prize drawing. There will be prizes for children, teens, and adults.
