Carlos Warner ‘C.W.’ Butler, 90, passed away June 18, 2026, at Medicalodges, Great Bend, Kan. He was born on July 27, 1935, in Paris, Ark., to Carl and Alta (Clawson) Butler. He married Ruth Moore and their union was blessed with two sons; they later divorced. On Feb. 14, 1974, C.W. married Carole Hart in Great Bend. She passed on May 16, 2017.
A longtime resident of Great Bend, C.W. was a senior vice president for First National Bank, then moved on to Security State Bank before retiring to focus on his rental business, where he owned many rental houses and complexes. His love of real estate included the building of a few of his own homes. He had a passion for travel, both internationally – going to Europe, and spending a week yearly in Mexico during the winter – and domestically in motorhomes with Carole. C.W. was active in the community and above all, enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Butler and wife Norma of Great Bend, and Keith Butler and wife Brenda of Parsons; five grandchildren, Christina Razz of Arvada, Colo., Angelina Butler of Manhattan, Dr. Matthew Butler and wife Maggie of Overland Park, Marisa Hannah and husband Lucas of Coffeyville, and Dr. Caitlin Sarmanian and husband Mike of Norfolk, Mass.; eight great grandchildren, Christian Butler-Francis, Gabby Butler, Jaxon Butler, Arrabelle Butler, Bentley Hannah, Caden Sarmanian, Lilly Sarmanian, and Cal Sarmanian; sister, Rita Weachter of Garden City; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife; parents; brother and his wife, George Butler and Jean; and brother-in-law, Harold Weachter.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery.
