David Oliver Gaunt, 84, passed away Sept. 14, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Great Bend, Kan. He was born on May 17, 1942, in Great Bend, to Lowell and Florence (Schrepel) Gaunt.

A lifetime resident of Great Bend, David worked for 38 years as a mental health technician at Larned State Hospital. He was baptized and raised in the First Baptist Church of Great Bend.

Survivors include his partner of 48 years, Paul Martin; two brothers, Terry Gaunt (Glenda) and Steven Gaunt (Glenna), all of Great Bend; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in passing by his parents; and sisters, Carolyn Anschutz and Sue Ellen Lee.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
