Janis M. Reed, age 74 years of Great Bend, Kan. passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 22, 2024 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan. She was born on Dec. 29, 1949 at Great Bend to Arno and Jesse Jensen. Janis was united in marriage to Donald R. Reed on Nov. 30, 1968 at Great Bend, and she worked as a Respiratory Therapist at the former Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed reading, sewing and quilting, and was a former member of the Quilter’s Guild in Great Bend.

Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Reed of Great Bend; two sons: Troy (and Carrie) Reed of Odgen, Kan. and Tyler (and Emily) Reed of Great Bend; one daughter Tammy (and Brent) McKay of Eugene, Ore.; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one brother Frank Sell of Hutchinson, Kan. and two sisters, Carol Malone of Owasso, Okla. and Joyce (and Dan) Wapelhorst of Great Bend; nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been chosen and no services have been planned at this time. The family suggests that Memorial Contributions be made in Janis’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
