2026: Our Fair, Our Heritage

The Barton County Fair Association is celebrating its 35th year of the Barton County Fair! This year’s theme is “Our Fair, Our Heritage.” From June 24 – 28, I invite you to visit Expo buildings on the west side of Great Bend, to celebrate the hard work of area 4-H’ers and community members. Local county fairs serve as the culminating moment for 4-H members to exhibit the items and animals, related to their project work, that they have been working so hard with since Oct. 1.

4-H members enter and bring their exhibits to the county fair to receive feedback on what they have been working on from judges. These judges have the experience and knowledge related to that program area to provide constructive feedback that allows kids to improve on their skills year after year. The goal is to build on youth’s interest over time, providing skills they need to lead successful lives, and become future community leaders.

Although the ribbon and success feel good for the kids, it’s about teaching them the importance of hard work, and committing to something that takes time to accomplish. I’d love for you to come out and support the kids as they achieve their goals! The Barton County Fair also offers opportunities for community members of all ages to enter the open class contests for animal divisions and indoor projects, like foods and arts and crafts. We want you all to have the chance to show off your special talents and hobbies!

The County Fair also provides an opportunity to spend some quality time together as a family with concerts, local business vendors, food vendors, and a carnival for all to enjoy! You can find a full schedule of events on the Barton County Fair website. We look forward to seeing you at the Barton County Fair!
