Student Library Assistant Lexi Thomas will be highlighting different Ellinwood High School seniors throughout the school year in our “Check It Out” column. Each senior will answer questions from a selection of prompts, giving readers an opportunity to learn something new and unique about each student. This week’s Featured Senior Spotlight is Banks Jacobs.
Banks Jacobs is a senior at Ellinwood High School. His family includes his parents, Ben and Julie Ann Jacobs, and his twin sister Bennett Jacobs.
When asked about a book he would recommend, Banks chose “Animal Farm” by George Orwell, because of its relevance to modern times.
Banks is involved in baseball, Debate/Forensics, Chess Club, Scholars Bowl, History Club, band, National Honor Society, Skills USA, and the Musical.
When asked who his favorite teacher or staff member was, Banks mentioned having lots of great teachers at EHS, but his favorite is Mr. Wittenberg because of how his classes teach the lesson that getting what you desire requires time and effort.
Banks’ advice for incoming students would be that it is okay to ask questions if you don’t know something. Asking questions is not a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of intelligence.
We wish Banks a wonderful senior year as he begins this exciting chapter of his life!
