Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! As a quick reminder, there will be no Delicious Dishes this evening. We appreciate your understanding, and we hope you will look forward to a similar program in the fall.
Friday is our Adults’ Night Out Movie at 7 p.m. We are showing a brand new movie starring Brendan Fraser, whom many of you may remember from “The Mummy” franchise.
In the film we’re watching at the library, Fraser plays an actor living in Japan who takes on a new kind of role to make ends meet, playing stand-in roles for strangers. As he immerses himself in his clients’ worlds, he begins to form bonds that blur the lines between performance and reality. Things get especially complicated when he takes on a father role for a little girl missing hers, and he begins to form a genuine, paternal bond with her.
Grab your tissues (you very well may need them), and come enjoy a free night of good popcorn and great cinema, on us! The north doors will be open at 6:45 p.m. and will close at 7:15 p.m.
Monday is our next Library Board Meeting at 5:15 p.m. These are open to the public, which means anyone is welcome to come listen to the monthly discussions.
Got a tech-related problem? Bring it in between 11 a.m. and noon on Tuesday to get help! Later that evening is our next Writing Club meeting. Get together to assemble and celebrate our summer zine during this month’s meeting from 5:30-7 p.m.
We have Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m., so come with your toughest family tree questions and learn how to use online research to uncover new members.
As we enter August, things will be quiet around the library until regular programming picks back up again in the fall. But don’t forget there are still plenty of things to do at the library even when we don’t have many events, so stay tuned next week to find out more!
