Happy Halloween from the Great Bend Public Library!

We’re entering November next week, and that means a new Spice of the Month!

Come check out what’s on offer starting Monday, Nov. 2.

Also on Monday, we have a new Take & Make for teens in grades 6-12. We will have kits with everything you need to make your own Kumihimo cords.

This is a stylish Japanese accessory perfect for keychains, bracelets and more!

On Tuesday, Nov. 3, we start with Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m. After that, we have Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m. and our next Teen Café at 4 p.m.

At this café, we will be serving not only coffee but also fresh flapjacks at our Mini Pancake Bar! Last but not least, at 5:30 p.m. we have the first check-in with the Writing Club for Novelvember. Pop in every week in November for a 15-minute session to share your progress with librarians and other writers participating in Novelvember. Stuck? Check out the prompt jar! You are also encouraged to hang out and write at the library before each session.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, is our first meeting of the Stitch Society Crochet Club for adults. Learn from experienced fiber artists how to stitch together adorable creations. No experience is necessary.

During the introductory lesson, we will learn the basics of crochet and get started on bringing the legend of the elusive, glowing-eyed Mothman to life with these amigurumi critters. After the first meeting, we invite you to come back at the same time next week to work on your project. Staff will be available to help. Visit our Facebook page for the sign-up link or give us a call.

Staff will be available to help. Visit Facebook for the sign-up link or give us a call.

On Thursday, Nov. 5, we will be hosting Chamber Coffee here at the library at 9:30 a.m. This is open to the public, so stop by if you would like to learn more about the library, eat some tasty food and maybe win some door prizes! Then at 6:30 p.m., teens , put your knowledge to the test as you face off against our librarians in a night of trivia. Will this be the year the teens finally beat the librarians? Walk-ins are welcome, but pizza will be provided for teens who preregister. Visit our Facebook page for the sign-up link or give us a call.

Speaking of pizza, if you place a carryout order or dine in at Pizza Hut on Nov. 5 and mention the Great Bend Public Library (delivery orders not eligible), a portion of the proceeds will go toward funding more awesome library programs and services!

Halloween lasts all fall this season at the library with Tabletop Teens!

Our table is full, but you can be part of the audience this Friday from 3:45-7 p.m. as our players travel to Druskenwald, a mysterious land of eternal night in our current miniseries. Last time, our adventurers worked on helping some of the passengers of the Ghostlight Express resolve their unfinished business so they don’t attack the train before it reaches Druskenwald.

The party already had to fight and take down one of them, so join us to see if they can help the rest move on before it’s too late!
