ELLINWOOD — Michelle Ann (Wornkey) Berger, 68, passed away at Stafford County Hospital on Sept. 11, 2026. Born in Ellinwood, Kan. on Aug. 6, 1958 she was the daughter of Jerry and Velma Ann (Moos) Wornkey. She graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1976 and later attended Barton County Community College where she received her Associates Degree in computer science. Michelle married Robert Berger in Ellinwood, Kan. on Dec. 20, 1980 where they were longtime residents before moving to Hudson where they have lived for 25 years. Michelle went on to work for the State of Kansas for over 30 years in Child Support Services. She enjoyed reading and looking after her plants but she loved her Chiefs and was a longtime fan traveling to many games over the years.
Survivors include husband, Robert Berger, Hudson, Kan.; son, Justin Berger, Hudson, Kan.; daughters, Stacey Berger, Ellinwood, Kan., Lindsay (Chris) Lewis, Ellinwood, Kan., and adopted daughter, Shannon Oelger (Denny) Great Bend, Kan.; father, Jerry Wornkey, Stafford, Kan.; siblings, Jeff Wornkey, Medicine Lodge, Kan., Greg Wornkey, Akron, Ohio, Melinda (G.R.) Schleve, Scotts Bluff, Neb.; grandchildren, Hailie, Avery, Nevaeh; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Ann Wornkey.
Celebration of life will take place 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19th at Ellinwood Community Church with Pastor Sam Ryan officiating. Family encourages attendees to wear their favorite NFL gear to the service. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
