HOISINGTON — Hoisington's Brodie Crites pitched the Cardinals to a 5-3 victory over Hillsboro to gain a split of Friday's Central Kansas League baseball doubleheader.

The Cardinals (6-10, 4-8 CKL) drop Hillsboro to 5-11, 2-10 CKL.

CARDINALS 5, HILLSBORO 3 (G1) — Hoisington's Crites (2-1, 4.35 ERA) permitted two earned runs with four strikeouts.

Crites scored on 4 Bentley Corbett's single and Marcus Ingram scored in a 2-run first frame. Martin scored on 15 Brody Corbett's third-inning single.

Kadin Umphrey scored and Jimmie Soeken scored on Reese Galla's fifth-inning single for a 5-1 lead.

Hillsboro's Zayne Haslett scored on Broden Loewen's single. Cashen Gann and Jaeten Loewen scored on wild pitches.

HILLSBORO 10, CARDINALS 3 (G2) — Hoisington's Bentley Corbett homered. Reese Galla's double drove home Bentley Corbett. Crites scored on an error.

Hillsboro took advantage of 13 walks and three Hoisington errors that led to six unearned runs.

Hillsboro's Aiden Hurst homered and Dalton Philpott and Ashton Talkington drove home runs.
