Panthers' Unified bowlers place third at state

The Great Bend Panther Unified bowling team earns a third-place state trophy.

TOPEKA — Great Bend's Unified bowling team captured the third-place trophy at Monday's KSHSAA Unified State bowling championship at West Ridge Lanes.

The Panthers finished with a  6-game Baker score of 1,013 (169 average). The Panthers roared ahead with 201 and 203 games before finishing with games of 145, 140, 157 and 167.

The Western Athletic Conference dominated behind champion Hays High (1,115), runner-up Liberal (1,092), third place Great Bend and fourth-place Garden City (917).
