A project to expand U.S. 56 to a four-lane roadway from the east city limits of Great Bend to the K-156 junction is in the works. The Barton County Commission will be asked to approve an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation on future maintenance responsibilities and more when the commission meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the courthouse.
