2025 County Spelling Bee set for Saturday

The 2024 Barton County Spelling Bee winner was eighth grader Jasper Pawlowski from Hoisington Middle School. The winning word that he had to spell correctly was “subsequent,” which Pawlowski said was “ a pretty easy word.” The runner-up was sixth-grader Kamben Burkey, also from Hoisington Middle School. This year’s bee is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at Great Bend High School.

The Donald H Humphreys, Barton County Spelling Bee will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in the High School Auditorium. The Great Bend Kiwanis Club will continue its tenured sponsorship of the local spelling bee and invites the public to attend.

The Kiwanis Club named the Barton County Bee in memory of long-time member and Spelling Bee Chairman Donald H Humphreys.
