The Great Bend Police Department and Barton County Sheriff’s Office both responded to an armed robbery at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday at 721 Madison St.

According to a statement from Police Chief David Bailey, the report was initially for an “unknown disturbance.”

Officers contacted the victims, 22-year-old Caleb Krankenberg and 20-year-old Morgan Krankenberg, and learned that three suspects had entered the residence.

The suspects were identified as Tia McNett, a 20-year-old white female; Cody Buckingham, an 18-year-old white male; and a juvenile.

Caleb Krankenberg told officers he was hit in the head with an unknown object and Morgan Krankenberg said she was battered by McNett. Caleb Krankenberg also said the suspects stole property and left the area. Caleb Krankenberg was transported to the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus by the Great Bend Fire Department ambulance. He was treated and released. Morgan Krankenberg received minor injuries but refused medical attention.

The Police Department issued an Attempt To Locate (ATL) bulletin on the three suspects and later located the juvenile at an address in Great Bend.

“When the juvenile was arrested, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located on his person,” GBPD reported. “The juvenile was booked at the Barton County Jail and later transported to Bob Johnson’s Juvenile Detention Facility (in Hutchinson).”
