National 4-H week is coming up and the Barton County Commission will approve a proclamation for that when it meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, in Suite 106 at the Courthouse. The meeting will also be livestreamed through Microsoft Teams at https://bit.ly/4my9oJs.
National 4-H Week is Oct. 5-11. Michelle Beran, Cottonwood Extension District - Barton County, will be joined by area youth in presenting the proposed proclamation.
Other items on the agenda are:
• Extending a lease of approximately 2.4 acres to store materials and equipment used for construction and maintenance of roadways. Leased from James Murphy, it is suggested that the updated agreement be extended to October 2030 with a payment of $1,500 per year. County Works Director Chris Schartz will present details.
• Ratifying a $16,856.64 expenditure for software to run virtual machines on a single physical server. Information Technology Director Dereck Hollingshead will present details.
After the close of the agenda meeting, the following meetings have been scheduled:
• 9:45 or following the close of the agenda meeting, planning session with media consultants.
• 10 a.m., regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, county administrator.
• 10:15 a.m., conditional land use permit application for proposed Nex-Tech Inc. cell tower, with Judy Goreham, environmental manager.
• 10:30 a.m., proposed revisions to the Wind Energy Conservation Systems (WECS) regulations, also with Goreham.
• 10:45 a.m., vehicle needs discussion with Wendy Prosser, county appraiser
• 11 a.m., leasing Hoisington property and legislative policy statement with Patrick Hoffman, county counselor
