The City of Great Bend is actively working to meet state requirements following the loss of water pressure experienced last night. As mandated by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), water samples are being collected to test for potential bacteriological concerns. These tests take a minimum of 24 hours from the time the samples are received by the lab, and once results are available, the KDHE will determine when the boil advisory can be lifted.
Since the incident, disinfectant levels in the system have been closely monitored. Current readings show consistent and adequate disinfectant levels, both during and after the outage.
Until the advisory is officially rescinded, residents are urged to continue following KDHE’s recommendations regarding water use.
